Ideal Cut Diamond
Everyone has their own opinion
on what Ideal cut Diamond is. Some people prefer a diamond
to have a somewhat larger table, say around 60%, so the
diamond looks bigger; some want the
Tolkowsky Ideal cut,
as calculated in the early 20th century by mathematician
Markov Tolkowsky. The diagram below describes the Class 1
and 2 grades of GIA. more>>
Diamond Tension Set Rings
A tension set
ring is one where the entire ring acts as one large spring
holding the diamond in place. There is no metal bridging the
gap where the diamond is being held. Since there is no metal
work which is used to hold the diamond the diamond seems to
float in the air. And we get a beautiful stunning
unobstructed view of the diamond. Light enters the diamond
from all angles and sparkles more in a tension ring then a
traditional diamond ring would.
Diamonds come in a variety of
sizes
shapes. One should not
confuse cut
with shape,
cut is what determines how well-cut your diamond is, where
as diamond shape is the shape it was cut into.
Fluorescence is a phenomenon that makes some diamonds appear
to change color when they are exposed to the ultraviolet
light that surrounds us every day in sunlight and in the
light produced by fluorescent light bulbs and tubes.
The four Cs
There are many characteristics that control a diamond's
appearance and durability. Four important factors are often
lumped together and called the Four Cs: diamond
color, clarity, cut and carat weight. Each of those topics
is important on its own, but it's up to you to combine them
in different ways to find a diamond that suits your style,
your needs and your budget.
